Questions about home care

What’s the difference between live-in care and 24-hour care?

With live-in care, one carer lives in the home and works agreed hours, resting and sleeping there the rest of the time. With 24-hour care, a small team works in shifts so someone is always awake and on duty. We can help you decide which suits your situation.

Can we have a say in who the carer is?

Yes. We match carers to the people they support based on personality, interests and needs, and we involve you in decisions about care. If something isn’t working, tell us and we’ll talk about it.

How is home care paid for?

Many people pay for their own care. Others get help from their local council, which can carry out a free needs assessment and then a financial assessment to work out what it will pay towards. Some people with significant health needs qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare. Benefits such as Attendance Allowance can also help with costs. Call us and we’ll talk you through the options.

Who checks the quality of your care?

Home care services in England are registered with and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator. CQC inspection reports are published on the CQC website. Our service is led by our CQC Registered Manager, Agnes Mathenge.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Wednesbury and Darlaston and support people across the surrounding West Midlands. If you’re not sure whether we cover your area, give us a call.
